    Hi there, everyone!

Our family has finalized the funeral arrangements for Aunt Marlene:

We are happy to announce that Family and Friends will be gathering on Sunday, 7/22/07, to celebrate the life and spirit of Marlene Fay Porter.
(Marlene's 51st birthday would have been on Saturday, 7/21/07.)

Without the loving support and monetary gifts of her online friends at TechGuy.org, this funeral and burial would not have been possible.

    Jowett Funeral Home
    Telephone: 810-985-5123
    1634 Lapeer Avenue
    Port Huron MI 48060

    10:30 a.m. Family will meet.
    11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Visiting hours.
    1 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. Funeral service in Marlene's honor.

Immediately following the service, all are invited to attend a luncheon hosted by the North Street United Methodist Church, located at 4580 North Road, North Street, Michigan 48049. Church Telephone: 810-385-4027.

Chapel & grave side services will be held on Monday, 7/23/07, at noon, at the Lakeside Cemetary in Port Huron, Michigan. Lakeside Cemetary is located on Gratiot Avenue between Holland and Krafft Roads, with access to the cemetary from all three roads. I could not locate a specific address, but the Lakeside Cemetary office telephone number is 810-984-9708, if anyone needs directions to the grave site.

For driving directions, please reference www.mapquest.com.

Any cards, floral arrangements, or sentiments can be sent directly to the Jowett Funeral Home in Marlene's honor.

Anyone who would like to contact my mother, Darlene (Marlene's twin), may do so by contacting me for her email address (thanks, MightyQueenC!!!). She will be able to answer any questions that you may have, and I am sure she would love to hear from anyone offering condolenses. This is the first time in her life that she will have to be without Marlene for an extended period of time.

I will be collecting all condolences and special messages from Aunt Marlene's family and friends via email and bulletin threads. I plan to print everything that I can to compile into a booklet that will be placed at Marlene's side in her casket and buried with her.

It is because of all of you that our family was able to provide Marlene with her final wishes of a proper burial. Our family is blessed with such a vast range of guardian angels, who individually and in whole, have impacted our lives and our memories of this wonderful woman. You have brought tears to many an eye. You have rekindled hope in my heart, and in the hearts of William, Hal, Rick, Darlene, and every other special person in Marlene's life.

Most importantly, you have provided us with a means of healing, and have assisted me in offering one final and sentimental gift to Marlene - a written reminder that her family consists of many people of different ages and races, from different areas around the world, who all share the same home in the heart of an angel.

    Thank you.

    With all sincerity,

My heartfelt condolences to Marlene's family and friends. I wish I could be there for the funeral. But unfortunately, to put it in Marlene's words, *I live a long way from her...a world away it seems!* Well, only a world away from her physically. Rest in peace Angel.

    Remembering your Angel today...
I hope your memories bring you comfort.

Please know I am thinking of you.

    When Angels Sing..

A new soul has entered heaven
that is why the angels sing
To escort them to the throne
    to bow before the King

    In heaven there's a party
    a great big celebration
    Welcoming a new resident
    as they gather in jubilation

    When the gates are opened
    the choirs of angels sing
    Joy has filled the heavens
as they're presented before the King..

    Thank you, Sarah :)

It might be a good idea to have people PM you rather than have Darlene's email addy posted in the forums, (spammers and whatnot) but I've saved it and will e-mail her.

    Take care. :)

Just to add to the funeral arrangement information...I found a link to send flowers to the Best Flowers website At the left hand side it says: Send flowers to the Jowett Monument Co (the address is the same, Sarah told me on the phone that it was called the monument co and it was on Lapeer Ave so please dont anyone worry about the differences in the title)

Of course, there is also Hallmark Flowers and FTD if you prefer to order from there. :)

Yes, Sarah....there are things here called "spybots"...little automated programs that come scanning threads to pick up people's email addresses so they can send them unwanted spam. Hope I am explaining them properly...thats my understanding of them anyways.

    Good morning Sarah :)

    My condolences to your family.

Unfortunately, I have family obligations that prevent me from meeting with your family this weekend, but I assure you, I will be there in heart and spirit . :)

Just wanted to let anyone know who might be ordering flowers....most flower shops do not deliver on Sunday. I spoke to the funeral home and they said delivery on Saturday would be fine. I also spoke to the florist shop from the "Best Flowers" website...the woman told me that if they have large orders, they will deliver on sunday so if anyone does order, please put in the "special instructions" box that the funeral is on sunday, even though you have to choose saturday on the drop down list for delivery dates.

I just wanted to reassure anyone who wants to send flowers that they will get there. I was a bit worried about that since florist dont deliver on Sunday and I wasnt sure if the funeral home could take them early.

I was gone yesterday with family that is here from TX. But just today got the Jowett Funeral Home address. Flowers and cards will be sent there from a group of us at another forum.
I also wanted to send a card but was not sure if it would get there before Sunday so I mailed it to Marlene's address so it will still get to William.
