Windows XP home is the operating system,9 times out of 10 this annoying screen appears,I cant type all the message because its not on the screen long enough but anyone who has seen it will know what I mean ...it goes along the lines of We apologise that Windows cannot start normally,, this is probably because of something you downloaded or that windows was not properly shut down ....then you get 4 options on how to start ie safe mode etc and the one I normally choose Start Windows normally ....does anyone know what causes this and how to stop it happening? apart from this the computer works normally ....

Hi.Id check any recently d/loaded program..
Check what is running at start up....a scanreg/fix at command prompt..
A step by step confirmation..saying yes to all..something may be lagging or failing..

Thought it was win98..
Chkdsk..may help..try a clean boot..
