another job for you guys

    hey, i am working on a friends pc, we ran fdisk and reformatted it, then when trying to run setup.exe from a prompt it gets to going to run scandisk, then restarts. I have also chnaged the prompt from a: to D:setup.exe, same thing it restarts. what to do?

    by the way, system is windows 98 SE and it restarts when it starts scanning system registry. hope you all can get me going.

    Actually, if you booted with a boot disk and started with cd rom support, you should be running the setup from E:

    I did that to, same thing, it restarts when scanning registry

    Usually when installing an operating system it does a scan of the drive and then installs but you can bypass the scan check.
    I'm forgotten the command for it and I have Windows Me machine but you could try c:\setup.exe /? for the query and usually it should give you the command switches to bypass the scan check. Can you please let me know what commands you use.Thanks
