Okay...so after a major virus/spyware scare, I want to do everything I can in the area of preventative maintenance, but I want to make sure I've all my bases covered. On the expert advice of MFDnNC, I've downloaded the following:

SpywareBlaster 3.5.1 http://majorgeeks.com/download2859.html

SpyBot V1.4 http://www.majorgeeks.com/download2471.html

AdAware 2007 http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-200...art=dl-AdAWARE

MS Windows Defender - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en (XP and only)

Now as far as I know, these programs basically specialize in spyware/malware. DO I need an additional virus program (such as AVG--or feel free to suggest something better)? And currently I have only Windows Firewall...should I be using something else?

Thanks for helping this computer-ditz. You guys rock.

Yes you need an active anti-virus program without a doubt. I use AVG and love it.
