I just purchased a new computer and it came with McAfee installed, apparently for a trial basis. I am now getting e-mails from McAfee to purchase from them an extended plan. Is it wise to do that or is it possible to do updates by downloading from the internet.
I purchased a Norton anti virus program plus personal firewall from our office supply store here for my old computer. It says on the package that I can install this program on two computers, but once that is outdated I will still have the ame problem again. Just don't know how to handle this. Do most people download updates to their current antivirus programs or purchase something new?

    Confused in Missouri

Your McAfee AV may actually stop working at the expiry of the trial period, but if it does not then you can manually download the definitions. Its hard to find but here is the link.

    http://download.mcafee.com/updates/4xa.asp

    Otherwise consider AVG from www.grisoft.com
Its free and actually very good, as long as you keep it up to date (as goes for any AV program)

It appears they are blocking people if they come from another website to
    http://www.my-etrust.com/microsoft/

Open a new browser and type in that address - don't click on the link.

Edit: nevermind, they are just having server problems.

Yeah, if you can ever access their update servers :(

There's a fix for that but I'm not sure if it's legal for me to post it.
