Clearing up my desktop I found an icon to install Windows Registry Repair Pro. Not sure why its there and think I may have downloaded it some time ago on someone's advice/article.

It suggests that it will improve performance and that there are up to 600 items on my laptop needing attention. The symptoms they describe of slow response opening programs etc certailnly exist but I am wondering if this program or similar is worth having? Anyone used anything like this?

IMO, no. Unless you are experiencing specific issues that are attributable to the registry in some way, tinkering with the registry is a bad idea. It's very easy to "fix" a system to death with registry repair programs.

They all find stuff that "needs" to be deleted. ;)
