    Hi,
I am running Vista Business with SP1.

The SP1 I used is the stand alone downloaded one, not the one that Windows Update offers. I could have used the Windows Update version, but since I have 2 Vista boxes, I chose to download it once.

The install didnt go smoothly. It failed to reboot after stage 2 completes. I manually rebooted after noticing it sitting there doing nothing for 20 mins.

Now, I have problems with the login screen. One time it didnt show username and password fields. And another time, it took so long to login that I rebooted the PC.

Then once I had IE open to this web site and walked away and the screensaver locked the screen. When I came back to my desk, getting this web site to refresh took a long time and I tried to open a new tab which also took a long time. So I decided to kill IE with task manager. But task manager wouldn't come up.

Anyone experiencing similar problems with SP1 ?

I updated using the stand alone and all is running perfectly. That being said, before I installed, I made sure that all MS critical updates were first installed. If you haven't installed all updates, try doing so. If you have all installed, remove sp1:

My experience is that you must pay no attention to the "time remaining" or progress indications.

You may well wait 20 minutes at the end of the progress bar or at the 99 % point.

But allow at least 1 hr for the install to complete overall.

If you are having continuing/repeatable problems with it, and have used the Business >> full backup utility, my advice would be to restore from that and try again -- or otherwise, uninstall what you have for it in Programs and Features if anything, and/or do a system restore.
