I have never used aol, but have a number of friends who do. And of course, there are a few that don't know aol that well, even though they've been using it for too long....

Anyhow, two aol friends have asked me how to turn 'on' the "include original message in reply" feature. I've looked for options / preferences / mail settings type menus and I can't find it. I *think* they are both using the latest version, whatever number that is.

Can anyone help me show them the way? And, *if* they are using an older version, should that setting still be in the same location?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Go to Keyword "Help". They have LIVE reps that can answer that. I for one haven't used AOl in years so I don't have a clue. :(

ditto - try the 'live' 'help' (if either word can apply to those aol scoundrals LOL)

i tried it a few times with my mostly dormant back up $5/mth aol account - but i'm running v4, current version is 7

obviously - i had no luck or i would have posted - duh, should have posted that too i guess

Hiya

Have a look here:

http://www.widesmiles.org/cleftlinks/WS-672.html

where, near the bottom, it says:

America Online **

Miscellaneous Information on Quoting using America Online:

1.) If you are replying to a message and want to quote some of the original post, use your mouse to "highlight" the desired area before pressing "Reply to All".

2.) AOL has 2 styles of Quoting available to you:

The Default (AOL's Style) looks like this:

On [date, time] you wrote:

<< This is how your quoted text looks like>>

To change it to the Internet style of quoting:

On [date, time] you wrote:
> quoted text
> quoted text
> quoted text

Go to MEMBERS ---- PREFERENCES and Click on the "Mail" Icon.

The last choice on that screen is: "Use AOL Style Quoting in Mail"

UNChecking that will give you the "Internet style" of quoting.

This might make it easier to read if you are quoting a long post and you are interspersing your comments within the quoted text.
Regards
