Does any person know the reason for this?

I turn off my PC, VIA START...TURN OFF COMPUTER.
After several hours I reboot the pc and I am able to connect to the internet, but not AOL, I can only connect to AOL when I use the "button" on the front of my PC to shut down, then reboot, and I then can then connect to AOL.
