I had a problem too. What went wrong with my games was that I updated my ATI
graphic driver and all the games, media player and media centre would not
work. So I unistalled this driver and installed the WDDM (Windows Driver
Display Model) and everything now works fine.
I dont know what graphic driver you are using, but this worked fine for me.

I don't think it is a graphics problem because media player 11 works fine...flash player works fine...I play streaming videos, they work fine. I am playing a game "Tomb Raider:Legend" that is working fine. So its not a compatibility or graphics problem. Thanks.
