A Sony CD-R that I've been using for 8 months to archive data before I delete it from my hard disk can no longer be read.

I created it with Adaptec's DirectCD. Now when I load it I get an "Unrecognized data" error message.

Today I took the CD to a local PC repair shop. They couldn't read it either.

Is there a high tech service out there that might be able to analyze the problem and create a readable CD?

There is a lot of valuable archived data on this disk and it's just sickening that I trusted a data media to work and it has failed!
