First off Thank you in advance for any suggestions you can offer.

I broke down and just bought a New computer.

    Ok I'm finally giving up on my 'ASUS Desktop CM1730'. Windows 7 6.00GB AMD II X 200 Proc 2.8GHZ, 6 GB 64-bit.

I never got a Start up DVD with it and was not able to find one when I needed it either. I can't seem to do a Recover on this old one without it.

I've purchased 2 HP Laptop 15-db0xxx. with an AMD Ryzen 3 2200U w/ Radeon Vega Mobil Gfx 2.5 GHz processor. 8.00 GB 64 bit with touch support using Windows10 version 1809.

One for me and One for my wife with the Idea if either gets messed up we have the other.

Q- Not that I intend to have to anytime soon but If down the road I need to, how would I be able to recover this if it needs it? Can I just do a reset? or should I created a stat up DVD? and what type of DVD should I get?

I tried to get MS Security Essentials but its telling me that Windows defender is better and already on this Machine. Any suggestions on this? it seems to already have MacAfee on this machine and wants me to sign up to it. But why if 'MS Defender' is already on it and is supposed to be better the 'MS Security Essentails'?

Just down loaded 'Melwarebyts'. Is this good for this Machine or is there a better suggestion? and Should still get 'SpywareBlaster'?

    Sincerely

    New at Windows 10.

    That is what I use.
It has been replaced by Defender.
    Uninstall it. using their uninstaller.
    McAfee Consumer Products Removal tool

Won't hurt, use the Free version & manually update about once a month.
I use the Free version & on computers with problems, manually scan.

MSE is for Windows 7 , 8 and XP.

The Defender that comes with Windows 10 is the latest version of MSE that is designed to run on 10. It will be kept up to date with the Windows Update process.

It (Defender) has been disabled by McAfee, so after uninstalling McAfee, make that you have Defender set to start up when the machine(s) are started.
