I have a laptop running Win7 Pro. The problem with it is an account known as ASP.NET Machine Account is acting as the administrator account and is asking for the password every time I would like to do certain tasks on my standard, limited user account. I have no idea how this came to be as I did not create nor set any password to this account.

The big problem is I did not set any administrator account before this, I only use the limited account which is the only existing account I know of that is on my machine. When this ASP.NET introduced itself to my machine and became self appointed Administrator without my knowledge all the problems started.....

When I go to user accounts to see all user accounts on my computer so that I can delete ASP.NET account from there, I am required to enter the ASP.NET Machine Account password which I don't know.

If there is another way or ideas on how I can obtain the password or even reset the password would be of great help.

    Hi dai,

Thanks for the link, though they were great ideas there I believe they work fine on WinXP. I am running Win7 Pro x64 bit.

I am currently not the administrator of my own laptop - very frustrating - I don't have an administrator account before the problem began now that ASP.NET Machine Account has become the administrator without my knowledge and consent it is quite difficult to reconfigure my own machine as every administrative task prompts for the ASP.Net Machine Account password which I have no clue on.

As we all know, to carry out any task in Win7 that might affect the system or even task that you know won't affect the system Win7 will still prompt for administrator password to continue. Since ASP.NET Machine Account happens to be the administrator now I am very very very very limited to using my own machine. HELP PLEASE??

Forget about deleting the ASP.NET account as every time I try I will be prompted for the ASP.NET password. System restore did not help either.

Is there a way to Reset the ASP.NET password?????
