I have data on an external hdd which I would like to access from my laptop. I have a program that points to the data. My external hdd gets a different letter from xp at different times. It does not help assigning a new letter because I have to reboot for the letter change to take effect (or so it seems) and the drive letter can change on boot up. Is there a way that I can assign the external drive to have a permanent drive letter?
