ASUS laptop. Did some updates and the brightness was cut in half. The keyboard controls could not get the the brightness up.

I found a Geoforce GTX app on my laptop that did control the brightness (I ALSO ADJUSTED THE CONTRAST).

Then I accepted the update the app offered and the update deleted the app I'd used. Nvida support was no help, nor was ASUS.

****This laptop has GTX 950M graphics card****

Was the video driver update provided by Asus?

The only recommended source for drivers, in regards to laptops, is the manufacturer. In this case, Asus. Drivers directly from nVidia, will often work, but neither nVidia nor Asus is likely to offer any help when they don't work. This is typically because a video chipset used in a laptop is not standard across all brands or even different models of the same brand.

Having said that, uninstall all of the video drivers, reboot, and then install the latest version available from Asus. Test and see what happens.
