Asus laptop shuts off when power unplugged

I noticed this happening after a Win 10 update on Sept 30th, 2016

Battery says "75% available (plugged in, charging)". However, it doesn't go past 75%

If I unplug the power cord, the computer immediately shuts off. Not just the screen, the whole thing.

I've checked as many settings as I can find, but not sure if there are any that would affect that.

Not sure what to do. I'd buy a new battery, but only if I know that's the likely problem.

Thoughts?

I'll get a new one and see if that works.

Something else interesting...when I wiggle the power cord (where connected to the laptop) there is obviously a bad connection because the computer shuts off then too.

I noticed this some time ago....when wiggled, it would change from battery to to plugged in.

If you have a bad connection then simply replacing the battery will not fix the problem.
The port where the adapter fits in might need soldering or replacing too. Some are soldered while others are just clipped onto the motherboard.

What is the exact model of your Asus laptop?
