i have just bought a Asus P5B LGA775 and it looks to be pretty big with enough space around it for quite a large CPU cooler...i was maybe thinking a Big typhoon since they are very well reccomended? who thinks it will fit?

It probably will fit with no issues, Asus usually are well designed and provide well spaced sockets. What you need to look at is your case setup. where most people run into trouble is the height of the heatsink hitting the PSU.
