I hope I can describe this problem clearly but something is causing streaks to display across my screen. It seems to continue from dark objects on the screen and continues across. For example, at the point that this line of text ends, the streak or shadow would continue across the screen as if the line is giving off a beam in both directions for lack of a better description. I bought a new monitor because I thought that was the problem but the new monitor has the same problem so now I'm deducing it to the video card. I have an Asus V6600 GEforce256 card and I don't know if it is just time to get a new one (had it since 2000) or if there is a way to repair this...Please help if anyone has encountered this before. Also, if you think the card has had it, could you recommend anything that would work well with my CPU specs? I don't really need a gamer card, I watch a DVD here and there but that's all. Here's what I run:
P3 733mhz, 256mb ram, soundblaster live platinum sound card. Thanks in advance...

I've had a card do exactly the same thing & it's time for a new one. Sorry man. I had this happen with an old TNT2 card & nothin' I done fixed it. The card is going south man & will eventually quit working altogether.

Since you're not lookin' to be gaming, then I would think any of the ATI All-in-Wonder cards would be great or any Nvidia GF4 cards.

thanks for the responses all. It looks like I might end up getting a new card. It sucks, I just bought a new monitor for no reason. Thanks again.
