I've updated my BIOS (per the ATI site suggestion) but the Multimedia center "system check" still says my machine isn's MMX architecture?
    is that possible?

    its a p4 1700MHz

That alone should mean its MMX right? Isn't that standard since the p2 days?

The ATI site says to "check settings" but what settings?
poked around BIOS but didn't see anything....

This problem negates the vast majority of the video cards functionality...

    Thanx in advance.

Is your CPU infact a 1700Mhz - could be that the settings are wrong in the BIOS - ie FSB. and this could be causing a problem.

I'm assuming you've updated ALL your ATI software including Drivers and the Multimedia Center from ATI's website.

All CPU's since the MMX series have had MMX technology.

What motherboard do you have and what ATI card?
