Any ideas why? I've tried uninstalling the lot of the ATI software (other than the driver) and then putting it back on to no avail. When I try to open the thing through the ATI Panel/Start Menu shortcut, I sometimes see the hour glass for a moment but the program doesn't load at all.

    Any help appreciated. Thanks

    Hiya

Is it the standard All In Wonder Radeon, with no extra names after it, like 5600 etc?

To doublecheck, go to Control panel | System. Device Manager.

ALso, whilst in there, rightclick and choose Properties, then Driver tab. Whats the version?

Lets see what you have running at the time of opening:

Go to Run and type MSINFO32
On the left choose Software Enviroment, then Startup Programs. Copy/paste the list here.

    Have a look at this:

Video preview window "freezes" during capture, VIA chipset

Is that the problems you're getting?

    Regards

You're not the only one with ATI tuner problems. Let me tell you what I went through and propose a solution.

I've owned 4 TV tuner cards and only one met my requirements.
First I bought a Voodoo card for $40, wouldn't find channels, lousy picture, only could get it to find one channel after 2 hours of fiddling. Trashed the card.

Then I bought a Pinnacle Studio pro card for $200, locked up my machine randomly, had a constant ticking sound, wouldn't find channels, wouldn't record right, crashed after about 10 minutes all the time, Tech support told me that it was a shared IRQ, it wasn't, no more tech support offered, so much for a $200 card.

PS. I heard there was a link between Mira and Pinnacle, so Mira cards are out of the question.

Then I bought an ATI TV-Wonder for $80, card works acceptable but not with ATI's software, at first I was using a freeware program called Dscaler to use the card. Then I purchased "PowerVcr 2" from cyberlink in order to use the card without having the problems that you are having. I have heard that WinDVR works good too. ATI's software never worked without problems.

Then I bought a kworld card w/remote and FM tuner for $25.
Wow, I found heaven! Nice remote, can even power down the PC. Works with linux. Great features. AND LISTEN UP Pinnacle and ATI, Thier software works flawlessly on all the PC's i've tried it on! I would highly recomend just replacing the card with on of these baby's. The bt878 models are wonderful to say the least.

It seems like the leading capture device companies are just running off propaganda, from what I've seen they really aren't anywhere near good.
