I've tried installing XP Pro SP3 on to an ATOM Tablet, after the files have been copied to the hard drive and the unit reboots, I get the message "Missing or Corrupt hal.dll". Is this due to XP not discovering the hardware correctly?

I'm only downgrading due to the graphics chip struggling under Windows 7 Home Premium. It's an Intel GMA 500 so should work better than I've seen under Win 7.

I have seen this before, some newer bios's are not compatible with XP, XP setup cannot determine what type of HAL to use.

Not sure anything can be done about it.

Another way to make XP obsolete.
