so i had this video file in ".wsm" format, i tried playing it with VLC player, and the 10 minute file was played back at 100x normal speed, the audio was horrible enough i thought my ears popped, it's like when you fast forward a cassette while it's being played, the sounds that came out of my speakers were a whole bunch of gibberish and screeching noises, and in just 5 seconds the 10 min file was played from start to finish.

i couldn't help but noticed afterwards my brand new speakers seems to make alot of popping noises afterwards, it occur whenever i switch from say mp3 one to two, however the popping noise does not occur during playback, just before the audio is play and when it ends.

i thought the speakers didn't sound as good as it did, but maybe it's just me.

so now i'm wondering, did all those horrible noises from the bad playback earlier destroyed my speakers...just like that?

my friend told me he once had his speakers ruined after playing back a poor quality wav file, i didn't believed him then, so was he telling the truth? can messed up audio ruin the speakers?

    many thanks for the help.
