How in the world do you install linux? You do not install linux; you create the live usb. The link posted for unetbootin will work as well.

Im using Rufus to do it like crjdriver said and it says it isn't bootable with rufus

I don't know why it doesn't work but try with UNetBootin, but instead of "select distribution" (which would download ISO file) you want to select already downloaded linux ISO file.

Reformatting your USB prior to this step is good idea.
You then simply plug USB into computer and boot from it.

No need to install linux at all, that's the whole point and meaning of "live linux"
