I have a client with a new system which he has installed the Microsoft OEM Works/Office 2000 pack onto. Whenever his sytem starts it places an icon onto the desktop for the Works Portfolio. How do we stop this happening? I have checked MSCONFIG and it does not seem to be there.

Sounds like you're on Win 98? Check Start > Programs > Startup and delete whatever's in there. Also look inside your options on Works (don't have it, can't be more specific) to see if there's some sort of "start with windows" option checked...

Start> Settings > Taskbar and start menu... > Start menu programs > Remove. See if you could find it there.

    Thanks people.
Sorry - should have mentioned it is on XP Home.
Looked in options - nothing there. Will try Raphael's fix ASAP

    Thanks again
