    Hi!
I'm a pretty inexperienced computer user who is desperate for help!
I apologise if this is not in the right forum, or if there is a previous thread about this (I did search).

Every time I turn my computer on it reaches the Automatic Updates screen. It says 'installing update 3 of 3 - 0%. The logging on screen flashes up, and then the laptop begins to shut down and restart, returning me to the Automatic Updates screen.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm having the same issue and was told by the Dell Techs that I would have to wipe my computer clean - but am trying to find another way before I do that. They had me insert my original Vista CD and try a restore. My computer was unable to restore, so they were going to start the totally wipe clean procedure.
Did you just by chance install the new service pack 1?

Just finished reinstalling vista with the help of a microsoft tech, very helpful. Didn't lose any of my data. My problem was due to the recent update of service pack 1. It doesn't work with my computer for some reason. Gave them the error code 0x80070570. They said this was their error code and was from the service pack. The tech acknowledged this problem and advised that I not download the pack again. If you did recently download this pack, I suggest you call microsoft, the call was free:

Only issue I face now is reinstalling software that came with my computer, plus any software that I installed since purchase. Not a problem for me, was only concerned with all of the photos and data, I have all the discs for the software that I need.

Don't know if that helps or not - good luck.
