    Are you using XP?
Are you using Home or Pro?

Couple of ways of doing this:

If you are using XP pro:

    Click Start | Run
    Type in GPEDIT.MSC

Go to Computer Configuration | Administrative Templates | System.

Locate the entry for Turn autoplay off and modify it as you desire

If you are using XP home(works for Pro too)

    Go to Start | Run

    Type in regedit

Find the following Key in the left pne

    Registry Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARE\MicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersion\

In the right pane, Right-click on NoDriveTypeAutoRun in the Name column on the right and clicke Delete.

    Restart your computer.

    Autorun should now be enabled
