Avast loaded when I updated CCleaner, although I did not tick the update box.
I have uninstalled it twice using IOB uninstaller but it is still there. I have put it in passive mode because it
asked me to uninstall MSE. I cannot remove the icon in the task bar, it just accepts update registration registration and information about avast but no delete. Any suggestion please ?
    Thanks Terryl

When you install or update Piriform CCleaner, you need to make sure to uncheck and decline to install Avast Free Antivirus.
    You obviously didn't do that.

    lunarlander:

I personally use Microsoft Security Essentials in all of my Windows 7 computers because of its simplicity and because it doesn't cause any issues.
I've tried using Avast Free Antivirus, but I find it to be too intrusive and occasionally cause issues.
And according to the latest news, it's not playing well with the April 2019 cumulative update.

Hi guys, thanks for your replies. I will follow the site that plodr supplied because avast is not showing on IOB uninstaller or windows programs. However, will do it tomorrow as it is very late here.
Many thanks. Wil mark this as solved.
    Terryl.
