I downloaded and installed this on a spare machine in my network, just to have a look at it. I have one curious issue, which maybe is normal. On every drive that has been scanned, there is a AVG6DB_F.DAT file. This appears to vary in size, based on the number of files on the volume, so I'm assuming it's some sort of index or what? Does anyone know what the purpose of these files are? I didn't see anything in their FAQ for the program on the website.

I've noticed that too awhile back. I initially thought it was a mis-directed download file, as my system had re-booted during a scan after an update download. While trying to figure out what happened, I thought the file looked out of place and deleted it. Since then I see that the file is created during a scan. Not sure what it is myself. :)

It's a log of what's scanned and any problems or errors

If you don't want it,untick the event write to log file on resident shield in AVG control panel
