Another month and another problem *sigh*

It seems that my AVG isnt working and when I run Ad-aware, it sticks in a certain area and will not complete the scan.

To begin with AVG wasnt updating so we successfully unistalled it because I thought something was really wrong and did a fresh install from the website. Its seemed to successfully install, but then it started coming up with a message saying that it was out of date. But it wouldnt update, saying it couldnt establish an internet connection - even though we are on Broadband and IE was open and going to other sites!

I have just checked it.... Now it won't open when you click on it and it won't un-install or do anything at all!

With Ad-aware if you run it, it gets so far until it reaches the following:

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\IMAGES

then it stops and won't go any further. All you can do is cancel the process.

Here is my Hijack This log. I would be really appreciative if someone could take a look at it and see if there is anything that needs sorting.

    Thanks guys! -x-x-x-x-

Did what you said... I got a little confused at the end as it seemed a little vague as what to do, but I think I got it right :) Below is the new log.

I thought I would try and re-install AVG after doing all of this and I got the following message from the Installer near the end of the process:

    Local machine: installation failed
    Installation:
Error: Action failed for file avg7dos.lng: creating file....
    Changing language to 67698688 failed.
    General failure.

You cannot even delete the folder that contains the old installation of AVG or use its own un-install option to get rid of it so you can do a fresh installation. Do you know why?

The problem is that we have no virus protection at the moment and my Dad is a frequent porn site visitor (which is where most of the problem lies with PC problems that I have to try and fix  ) so while this is going on, we are unprotected and my Dad is going to get more crap on here.

Do you know if there are any other free Anti-Virus software?

AVG still isnt working and will not let me uninstall or reinstall - but appart from that everything seems Ok.

I havent tried Ad-aware yet though.

AVG came up with this message when I tried reinstalling:

    Local machine: installation failed
    Installation:
Error: Action failed for file avg7dos.lng: creating file....
    Changing language to 67698688 failed.
    General failure.

We just installed Avast because we needed something until we got AVG working as we didnt want to go online without anything to protect us

If we are going to keep Avast, we would still like to un-install AVG, which at the moment it isnt letting us do at all and we have tried its own uninstall tool and Add/Remove programs :(

When you try to open the AVG control It says:

Could not initialize AVG Anti-virus kernal interface
    Application cannot run

When I tried to uninstall using its own uninstall or through Add/Remove programs it says:

Installer initialization failed due to following error:
Undefined error: Initialization of the setup data file failed.
Opening of the setup data file "C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Free\setup.dat" failed.
    No such file or directory

When you try to delete the program file it says:

Cannot delete avgse.dll: Access is denied
Make sure the disc is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.
