Had to do a recovery of my system today (that's another story - been having problems with my HP computer), anyway I keep getting messages that my anti-virus coverage is out of date, but when I try to access their update site I keep getting a message that my internet connection has failed even though it's working fine (tested by going to a number of other sites - no problem). Yesterday I got rid of a Trojan - at least I think I did (AVG first picked it up while I was running Spybot for general maintenance) AVG said it couldn't Heal it, but Panda Active Scan said it disinfected it. Any ideas on what's going on??

Hi golddust

Try going to Grisoft's site.
Download the update to a folder on your desktop.

Double click on the Update Manager in AVG to bring up the Properties box,
remove the checkmark for Do not ask for the update source, Apply, OK,
Click check for Updates and point AVG to the folder containing the update on your desktop.

Let us know if this works for you or not and let us know if that virus is still coming up on scans.
Were you able to locate the virus file in Windows Explorer?

Aha, looks like I got the answer to the problem:

This quote from the Grisoft website -

"Application under maintenance

Thank you for your interest in AVG Anti-Virus products. After many months of uninterrupted service to you, our system needs regular maintenance. We will shorten the period to absolute minimum required. Please visit us after 12:00 GMT. Thank you for your understanding. "

Until they are back online, I won't consider the problem solved in case something else is involved.
