    Howdy.

I've run into a bit of a problem with a friend's computer. Every time I try to bring up AVG 2011 (free), or bring up Internet Explorer that I know uses an AVG add in, a pop-up box keeps coming up that's trying to install. The box won't do anything...just sits there. I've traced it back to AVG and this happens every time I open up an instance of AVG. The process (task manager) can be traced back to "avgui.exe"

I've tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling, but with no success. I'm away from the computer, so I can't run a Hijack report.

    Any suggestions?

Nope...I'll send the link to them and they might take it from there.

Man, I knew there was a reason I got out of computer repair.

Follow Phantom010's advice to use the AVG removal tool to get rid of AVG, then replace it with Microsoft Security Essentials 2.0.657.0.

It's much smaller, it's very user-friendly, and it isn't problematic like AVG.
