Custom built PC? Post the full model number and revision (rev) of the Motherboard, it will be printed on the motherboard.

If it is a Store bought PC, what make and model is it.

Fix it how? Generally BIOS updates address very specific issues and for a 8 year old system it would seem odd that a BIOS update would be needed unless you've upgraded a component or require the update to upgrade a component.

In any case, the BIOS download would be for the specific motherboard not the type/brand of BIOS chip it has. In your case its from Asus for the P4PE motherboard. The only newer BIOS updates only add support for newer processors: http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=P4PE&product=1
