    Hi,

I am working on a PC running on XP Pro. It has 1 150 gig hard drive in it. I want to run a system where it backs up all the data securly on a second hard drive. Someone told me to look for Raid settings/drivers. I only need to back up data, no programs. Can I just get a second hard drive and run a software to automatically back up the data on it? Please recommend some good softwares.

    Thanks,
    Omid

Yes, use Robocopy. It's a little more work to setup than some gui tools, but it's pretty good. If you have Vista it's already installed. If not, google it and you'll find a download. There are lot's of command line options to copy exactly what data you want and nothing else.

For my mother I have her setup on Microsoft's SyncToy. Works quite well for her. We just had a system crash last week and she was extremely thankful for that.

If you want encrypted and compressed backups I would suggest using Cobain Backup. Plenty of people here on use that already.

Some people use Karen's Replicator. It all depends on your needs.
