I am using Windows '98 and I recently purchased a cd-rw, unfortunately when I attempt to do a backup to a cd i get the message that I don't have the authorization to do this and to contact my system administrator, what does that mean? I'm not on a network, has anyone else had this problem?

Start>Settings>Control Panel>Network and make sure the computer is set to “Windows Logon”.

Are you recording with packet writing where you drag/paste in Windows Explorer or My Computer? If you are it isn’t a very secure place for your data.

I find it is just as easy to make a back up folder and drag or paste anything I need to back up to it. I record it multi-session so I can add more sessions and just erase the folder after I check the CD. You won’t be back on the board asking how to recover your lost data if you do it that way.

What software are you using to burn?
