I have an old computer, one that has many junk files on it and old users' files on it (I reinstalled but didn't reformat before, so a whole bunch of old files are on there). Anyway, I want to wipe it clean but keep certain programs that I got (giveawayoftheday.com -- normally cost money, but everyday they give away one for free  ).

I have a second hard drive with Ubuntu Linux on there, so I can back them up to the other hard drive and use Ubuntu to reformat the other drive.

My question is can I back up certain programs?

I like that...if possible, I would like a free program, but this is great!

it's not so expensive and it's worth every dollar that you pay for it.

Acronis will not allow you to backup programs. Nothing will. Acronis makes a duplicate image of your computer which isn't what you're looking for. Programs have to be installed. They can't be moved or copied from one system to another.

Ok, that's somewhat relieving because I don't want to pay $50 for a program I'll use once.

Too late now, but you should have saved the download "exe" files. I put them in a folder for possible subsequent use. Of course, updates have to be done, if necessary, after reinstalling from that source.
