We got an email saying that our server was being used to send spam.

We have rules set up already but have to constantly keep re-writing them so as not to spam. We are using Imail 8 server.

So I was wondering if it is possible to get a program to guard against the server spamming?

That article helped to understand how spamming could take place.

However we have relaying turned off and had a security audit on the server. The security audit found nothing wrong with the server and we were told that we had to find the problem.

We tested the server and it is not an open relay problem

Then someone on the other end may have read the headers wrong, or you have a machine on your network that is a zombie.

Well, you could read some of the links within the wiki article. do you have virus software on each machine? is it current and up to date? have you run spyware scans on the pcs?

well if you tested your server and tested your network machines and all is fine, ask whoever sent you the mail to provide you with more or recent info. Maybe they were wrong, maybe a patch you applied fixed it
