    Hi
I have a system here which has an error at startup with:
    Invalid Backweb application id "137903"

Clicking OK is fine but this is a nuisance - any ideas or thoughts appreciated.

Backweb is an updater, which apparently comes with various HP, Compaq, Logitech, and Kodak software (probably others), and it's also suspected of "phoning home" without your knowledge.

Download an application such as Adaware or Spybot Search and Destroy and run it. They are free, just search on Google. They should find rogue applications like this one and allow you to remove them.

Go to Start > Run, type Msconfig.

Examine the Startup tab carefully for ANY reference to "backweb".

NOTE: You're NOT looking for the name of the startup item, but for the command!

Remove the check mark at that line, click OK, close Msconfig, and restart your computer.
You will not get that error message any more.
