the following was taken from another website, but its exactly the same issue i have. No
where on the internet is there a clear explanation to what it is.

A window has been popping up on on my Compaq desktop every 6 months for years, and its title bar is "Backweb Security Notice". It contains three sections. The first section has this text "A new certificate has arrived for channel "Compaq connections". It will be used to digitally sign the channel's contents. Do you wish to accept this certificate?" and is followed by a pair of buttons Yes & No. The second section is graphical and looks like scanned paper certificate with this text superimposed on it "This certificat is published by Consumer PCs Hewlett-Packard Cupertino, California, US as a publisher under credentials issued by Secure Server Certification Authority RSA Data Security Inc. US Expires: Feb. 7, 2004". The third section starts with a check box (and it is checked) and this text "Automatically trust all content signed by this publisher Choosing this option will enable InfoPaks signed by this publisher to perform operations such as running plugins or executables without asking for user approval."

Download hijack this from the link below. Please do this. Click here:

http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/hijackthis_sfx.exe

to download HijackThis. Click scan and save a logfile, then post it here so
we can take a look at it for you. Don't click fix on anything in hijack this
as most of the files are legitimate.

backweb is usually a collection of hardware progduts like cameras etc which are looking for updates like yours is from your pc maker?
