    Hi lobotech,

It's very late here and I am about to sign off. But to get you started, yes, your friend is a disaster area.

Hijackthis is running fom the temp directory. Create a new Folder and Extract Hijackthis into it. I will not help you fix anything using HT in a temp folder.

I see you have posted before and know where to downaload and install, update and run Ad-aware and Spybot.

Go here for directions if you need help booting to Safe Mode.

    http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2001052409420406
    --------

Because XP will not always show you hidden files and folders by default.
    Reset your search settings first.

Open Folder Options>view and check your settings:
    Select
    Show hidden files and folders
Display the contents of system folders
Uncheck: Hide protected operating system files
Next go to Search and scrolldown using the scroll bar on the right. Go down to More advanced options and click.
Be sure the first three boxes are selected:
    Search System folders
    Search Hidden Files and folders
    Search SubFolders
    --------

    Run Ad-Aware in Safe mode.
    Run spybot in Safe Mode.

Empty your Temporary Internet Files and history in Internet Options. And clean out your
    Temp folder.
    Go to start>Run and type
    %TEMP%
Press enter to open the Current User's temp folder

Restart into regular Windows mode .

Go for free online Virus scans here:

    http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp
    http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/

    Allow them to clean
    ----------------

There will be many many more entries to fix. Post a new Hijackthis log when you have finished.

PS because you emtpied the temp folder in Safe mode, when you restart into regular windows mode, you may get a error or two about missing files. That's ok. We will fix that using HijackThis in the next phase of the cleanup.
