bad_pool_caller?

    i am trying to reinstall windows xp on to my dell 4600. when it gets to the instillation step i get a blue screen which and it gives me the bad pool caller message. every time i restart the computer i get directed to the instillation and it gives me the blue screen again when it hits the 34 min remaining mark. any ideas?

    FDISK and FORMAT before attempting to install if you do not need any of the data on the drive. Installing over an old copy of Windows will not solve any current issues and you will still have them when Windows reinstalls.

    now that i am mid way through install is there a way to get out of it? i can't seem to find a way out, or is there a way to format the drive out of windows?

    Give it the three finger salute (alt-ctrl-del) if you want it to stop.

    You can select whick mode you want to use during the boot to the CD by and selecting command prompt only. I haven't done it in a while but there was an option to boot with CD-ROM support also. If you can get it to boot to the command prompt change to the CD drive letter and do the format from there.
