Solved Basic questions about HDD specs

    It needs to be a 2.5 SATA drive with a maximum physical height of 12.7mm. 9mm would be better.

    The capacity is irrelevant. The important features are above.
    Cache is irrelevant but higher is obviously better
    RPM is irrelevant but higher is better but lower will use less battery power usually.

    1. SATA > caddy interface type. Your only choice is whatever interface is used by the laptop.

    2. Cache > RAM on the drive used to store data as it's read/written

    3. RPM > speed the drive platters spin. The faster the rpm, the lower the seek times.

    For a secondary/storage drive, 2 and 3 are mostly irrelevant. Buy based on price and warranty.
