I have an inspiron 1501 dell laptop, which is two years old. Recently, the battery had been dying within 30 minutes of being unplugged. This is on the energy saver mode. Is there anything I can do to get the battery life back to what it used to be?

    Welcome to TSG.
I suspect that you need to purchase a new battery.

Hi q11w1e1r1t1, and welcome to TSG...

I, too, have a 1501. The battery lasted about 2 years and then began running down pretty fast whenever I used it. Then one fine day when I booted my machine, right after POST, this black screen came up and said the battery was not recognized

I played with it for a few days. It still charged up and the laptop would run OK with it. I got tired of messing with it and purchased a new and higher capacity battery from this site. Received the battery a couple of days later via USPS (no shipping charges) and proceeded to install and charge it.

This site also has a very comprehensive page (click here) that provides some info about how to make a battery last longer. Mine is now in the refrigerator inside the anti-static bag it came in with that inside a zip lock bag to keep out moisture. Read the battery care article and you will see why I did that. It works for me because my laptop see very little usage outside my home where I have it set up with another monitor, printer, scanner, etc, etc. Your need may be different and preclude leaving the battery out, but there is also some good info about making the battery last longer that is relevant to full time usage.

So you can count me as at least one satisfied customer of Laptop Battery Depot. You sure can't beat the price relative to Dell's price.
