Using a USB Windows 10, I go to Command Prompt
Type bcdedit /export c:\bcdbackup
Operation Completed Succesfully

Type attrib c:\boot\bcd -h -r -s
Path not found - c:\boot

Can someone please help me fix this BCD Error code 0xc0000098??

Thank you!

Booting from a USB probably changed the drive letters.

Try changing the drive letter in the attrib command to D, E, F etc until it works, such as :-
Code:
attrib D:\boot\bcd -h -r -s
Also when you find the correct letter I would repeat the bcdedit command using that letter.

Thanks again,
But nothing seems to FIX this problem.
I'm successful in all commands:
bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /rebuildbcd
exit

reboot to same B.S.O.D. Error 0xc0000098

I need to save Quickbooks files, but since this SSD is part of the motherboard I can't remove it.

If I attempt a custom reinstall of Windows 10 will my QB files be in windows.old file??

I think your QB files will be in the Windows.old folder after a Custom Install to the same partition.
Before you try that there are a few other things you can do.

Have you tried Start-up Repair ?
To find it boot the Usb stick then click Next (set to your keyboard type if not US first) > Troubleshoot > Start-up Repair
I've read it can take up to 3 runs of it to fix things.

If that fails we can try to copy the files onto your Usb stick in the Command Prompt window.

Yes, I have tried Startup Repair over and over to no avail.
How would we copy the QB files to my USB?

Thank you!

I was researching how to do it but you beat me to it, well done

You're welcome :)

Make sure the files will work in QB and if they do please click on [Mark Solved] at the top of your page.
