Ice Broadband - Belkin Router F5D733-4

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Firstly Ice Broadband in Ireland is a wireless Broadband provider that does not require a phoneline.

I cannot connect to the Internet wirelessly - there is no connection at all through the Router the BB is working fine but cannot connect wirelessy only via Ethernet - it willl ping the Ip fine but not the next one as per below

    d) Type ping 66.102.9.104. If the ping times out then the problem is between your router and internet connection. If you get a response, move to step e).

Basically I think I have input everything correctly and cannot see any problems but the link stream just says "Link Down"

What do I do or change to rectify this - Im going insane!

    post an IPCONFIG /ALL

    ipconfig /all

TWO Methods to do that - some people have problems with ONE----

    ONE ---------------------------------
    start
    run
    cmd
    ipconfig /all

    rightclick in the box
    select all
    enter
control key + C key - to copy
    then reply here and
control key + V to paste

    TWO -----------------------------------------------

Start, Run, CMD to open a DOS window and type:

    IPCONFIG /ALL >C:\RESULT.TXT

Open C:\RESULT.TXT with Notepad and copy/paste the entire results here.

there is a link to what is coming up

Also to reiterate - this is wireless broadband so I have a cable runing straight into the router via ethernet - not a normal telephone type line

    download and run
Free software to check signal strength of wireless is netstumbler 0.4.0 available for download from http://www.stumbler.net/
see if it detects the wireless signal

i think the problem may be the IPv6
    but
set up a restore point on one of the PC
    then remove IPv6

and post back an ipconfig /all

Diddler, with that ipconfig you showed in post #4 are you connected directly to that ethernet lead from your ISP or to the Belkin router?

If the former, then (1) obviously you need to configure the Belkin WAN (Internet) to that same static IP. Have you? (2) When switching devices (e.g., from computer to router) when you have cable or DSL broadband you almost always have to power cycle the modem; may be the same with yours--is there a way to unplug or turn off that device that converts your wireless ISP to ethernet? (3) A few ISPs track the MAC address of the device connected to their ISP; have you cloned your computer's MAC address to the router to account for this possibility?

If you were connecting through the router then I'd guess you need to move the ethernet lead from your ISP to the router's Connection to Modem (or WAN or Internet) port.

You are probably not using ipv6, so agree with ETAF that you ditch it since it sometimes causes trouble:
    Start - Run - ipv6 uninstall - OK
