I am having major problems trying to set this up.
Does the modem/router need to be connected to a pc or can it be placed away out the road and use a usb adaptor (which is what I thought).
I cannot get any joy on this equipment at all.
Please help with your worldly knowledge of the wireless world.
    Many thanks, Allan.

I think I have just got it sorted.
I will disconnect all cables and see how I get on.
    Thanks for the quick reply.

Yes I have it connected now. The speeds vary hugely though.
One minute it's running at 100mbs then 2mbs.
    Anyone know why this is?

Variation in speed is due to radio frequency interference, anything from a toaster to cordless phones and even local police radios can cause this interference.try running ruoterin protected mode it seems to lessen the variance in connection speed, but personally I have not noticed any major loss of productivity even when connection is low (2MB/s).internet traffic still is up to dsl speeds.
