    I have a belkin wireless router. It does not have amazing specs but it is decent.

    My laptop gets a signal strenth of : Excellent to very good

    So here is the the problem

    As i am typing this i have signal strength Excellent but my speed is a LOW 2.0mbps
    between the router and laptop!
    I am meant to have 54mbps (wireless)

    why is this happening thank you for any ideas on why and how to fix

    On normal WLANs you can us normally a fourth of the given bandwidth from the specs.
    From where do you get those 2.0mbps from? How fast is your internet connection? Does it exceed 2Mbit/s?
