I have AGV antivirus, Sygate Personal Firewall (free edition), and Spybot SD, Adaware 6, and Webroot Spy Sweeper. I want to know:

1: which one of my antispyware programs is the best?
2: are there any other antivirus, antispyware, and firewall programs (free) that are better than these?

Simple questions i'm sure... I just want an expert's opinion. :)

IMHO you need both AdAware and Spybot.

Its possible to get paranoid about adware and spyware, but generally simply being careful about what you do and agree to on the web will limit the need. I periodically run both applications, but only ever pick up cookies, which does not concern me.

I run a hardware firewall (NAT router) and occaisionally run a software (Kerio) one to assure there is no unknown outward traffic. Again, as I am careful what I agree to, I have never had a problem. SPF is a good firewall, and adequate in most cases.

AVG is quite good for a free AV package, probably as good as you get for nothing.

Looks like you can get rid of number 3 on your list of ppl now! :)

As for your list, all of the programs are different genres of system tools, so they are all the best software! :) If fact those ones (Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D) are the best. Also HighJack This (listed below) is a popular program on TSG. Also highly recommended.

Using Ad-aware and Spybot along with Spywareblaster and CWShredder have been keeping my computers clean of that spyware/malware.I haven't had any problems thus far.

If you really dont care about the cookies then you should do both an adaware and spybot check periodically(maybe once a month), then i also suggest running both after installing anything you've downloaded off the internet, or after going to a suspicious site.
