I ran a free registry cleaning utility on my XP Home system and since then I've been having the following problems:
Every selection I make from bringing up my desktop to using any program or log on takes minutes to boot up. The delays are worse on the administrator's desktop, whisch I was using when I used the utility. The problem does show on the other two users areas also.
I have tried the following to fix the problem:
    1. System Restore, which did not work
    2. Re-format hard drive and re-install Windows XP, which seemed to work at first but gradually the problem returned.

After a reformat and reinstall, it should be obvious that the registry cleaning utility was not the problem. It sounds like you may have hardware issues, hard to say with the description.
