    Hi,

thought i might update my motherboard bios... is this a wise idea? I have had my mobo for 4 years now without touching it.

In any case i went to the company webpage and found the link:

    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/bios/bos/spt_bos_detail.php?UID=45&kind=1

just wondered how i would go about updating it? the files are '.exe' but i was led to believe BIOS updating required flashing or...?

In general BIOS updates should be done to correct a problem you are having or to allow you to install some new piece of hardware. The link you gave gives information on the various BIOS updates and what they do. If your system is working OK and none of the BIOS fixes apply to you then really no reason to do an update.

I noticed that the 1.4 added:

    - AGP Fast Write Item in the BIOS setup

    thought that might be useful?

Leave well enough alone. You are aware that wrong wrong move in a bios update could render your motherboard as toast and not repairable? This is not like upgrading Word Perfect.
