    When I started my computer earlier on, a message came up saying
    "Multiply BIOS post attempts have failed"

    does anyone know what this means?

    also, what rundll.exe do?
    It has stopped responding afew times on my computer.

    Thanks to anyone who is about to help...

    The post is an acronym that stands for Power On Self Test. It is what the computer does when you boot up to check itself for errors. For example to test memory or to make sure the keyboard and mouse are plugged in, that sort of thing. It sounds like your computer could not complete a post. Did you receive any other error codes/messages or did the computer make any beeping noises? If it makes beeping noises count how many beeps.

    For the rundll.exe question

    This website http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary/rundll/
    is where I got the following:

    "rundll.exe is a Windows System process belonging to the Windows 95, 98 and ME range of Microsoft Windows products. This is an important system process and should not be terminated. NOTE: rundll.exe can also be the LOXOSCAM and Backdoor.SchoolBus.B trojans depending on Operating System and file path; this is always a virus on Windows XP and 2000 operating systems however. Both are a backdoor Trojan that allow hackers to gain access to the computer. These program is a registered security risk and should be removed immediately. If found on your system make sure that you have downloaded the latest update for your antivirus application. Please consult the file path to distinguish between this and the system process."

    Run it again and get rid of ;
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NvCplDaemon] RUNDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\System32\NvCpl.dll,NvStartup

    Plus these ones if you don't want windows messenger running;
    O9 - Extra button: Messenger - {FB5F1910-F110-11d2-BB9E-00C04F795683} - C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe
    O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Windows Messenger - {FB5F1910-F110-11d2-BB9E-00C04F795683} - C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe

    But you should then go to services and turn it off for good.

    And if you are running the Encarta searchbar then leave that alone. If not get rid of this one;

    O9 - Extra button: Researcher - {9455301C-CF6B-11D3-A266-00C04F689C50} - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Encarta Researcher\EROPROJ.DLL
